Gordon, don't the Flash progress bars you're thinking of relate to the Flash
file itself and not to a file the user is uploading to the server? The Flash
plugin has a variable that reveals how large the movie is and how much of it
has already loaded. I'm afraid it can't be used for uploads or files that
aren't part of the movie itself. Flash can't read client-side files.

I believe the underlying problem is that the browser first uploads the file
to the web server with the form before CF even gets a whiff of what's
happening. The upload is complete before CF has a chance to do anything. The
web server doesn't report to CF on the progress of the upload (but from what
I read it will report progress to Perl if you have that installed). This
means any solution has to be on the client side and without an applet or
ActiveX component I can't see how else this can be achieved.

Gary.
