I have looked at the Aptana help for
editing files remotely and it suggests that you should be able to do this and this is also what I used to do in Dreamweaver MX. Any ideas why this isn't saving remotely? (I have tried passive and non-passive FTP)
Sounds like Aptana is opening the file using the CFEclipse editor - it only seems to save remote files edited using the Aptana editor. We get around this problem by just mounting remote sites onto the local filesystem using FTPDrive (free) and SFTPDrive (cheap) on windows and LUFS on Linux - works a treat.
