Most importantly, use semantic markup.

You can use JS, but ensure all functions work with it disabled.
Likewise, use CSS freely, but only to enhance the look.

Get the web developer plugin for Firefox - it allows you to do several
things directly useful to this, including:
- Toggle JavaScript and CSS.
- Perform small screen rendering and linearise the page (both features of
PDA browsers).
- Validate against Section 508 and WAI - both useful guidelines.

Oh yeah, and remember, PDAs can have slow pay-per-MB connections, so keep
code compact. (don't use HTML comments; use linked CSS/JS files, not inline
scripts; keep things brief, but not too brief; etc)

Hope that helps. :)

Morning all,

A friend of mine has asked for me for some assistance in create a site for
a
niche audience he has a large number of contacts in. The user will need to
access the service from both PCs and PDA and possibly mobiles phones at
some
point in the future.

Anyone got any pointers on developing a service for multiple platforms?

All help gratefully received, as ever!
