Hi All

I don't normally contribute to this list as my CF knownledge is somewhat lacking as a result of fewer CF projects, hope its not a sign of things to come. :)

I have a question regarding SQL Server and synonyms. A system i am writing needs to integrate into another existing system. Due to agency politics i cannot query the database directly and have to go through api/web service of some sort which is being planned. I have stumbled across sql server synonyms which seem to answer all my problems in getting hold of data in this fragmented/distributed database.

Does anyone know, before i go synonym mad, of any issues with heavy use of them in CF? Everything i have read seems to suggest that they are ok (and i could be wrong) and is in fact a feature which has been around in oracle for years.

Am i right in saying that they could create a user with "select" only access and i could create a synonym using that user to connect to the db table?

Thoughts?
