Make sure it is not possible to do BLANK searches which will return everything, as this often knackers peoples sites. If you don't want spiders indexing all these url's, make sure you add a robots.txr to your site too.

This is simple enough but what I want to do is for people to be able to save the url in their favourites. At the moment the page is always search.cfm because the criteria arrives via a submitted form (Although the page will search if I add criteria to the URL i.e: search.cfm?area=10 etc as it is in fusebox) So my idea is to collect the form fields using Javascript and create a new url and send that off.
