I should have added that the presos I pointed you to would be like articles,
with lots of info, not just pretty pictures that lack context without the
voice of the presenter.

That said, the CFUNITED podcast did offer the recording of me giving those
talks, too:

Consuming-Web-Services-in-CFML

ips-and-Tricks

Cheers.

Allan, I can point you to 2 presentations I've done on CF and web services.
Just visit my preso's page and find the 2 references for web services:

http://carehart.org/presentations/

I've also done an article (at /articles/), though it was on integrating with
Amazon web services, specifically. Still, any perspective on using them can
be helpful.

As for Salesforce, you're not alone in your search. Other CFers have sought
to do it, and there are indeed specifics it will help to know. It can be
hard to find the right keywords to do searching just on that, but I found a
couple things which, while dated, may at least lead you in the right
direction.

Back in 2004, Sean wrote that he was finding challenges with it:

http://corfield.org/blog/index.cfm/do/blog.entry/entry/Consuming_Difficult_W
eb_Services

And in 2005 he pointed at a MM Forum thread where others shared the
challenge:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadi
d=781179&enterthread=y

But note that it's a long thread and later entries offer code that suggests
people cracked the nut. I've just never had to use it, so haven't read it in
detail and can't speak to whether there's a better approach than what they
suggest. Hope it helps put you in a right direction.

To find the above, I searched the keywords--cfinvoke salesforce--(don't want
to quote them, since that's not what you want to do). You should try
cfobject also, but searching with createobject may not work as well, since
other languages support it.

Afternoon,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good blog / book, which talks
about web services (for dummies)?

Also looking for material that talks about Coldfusion and Web Services and
if possible any comments from someone who has used them in conjunction with
Salesforce.

Thanks,
Allan
