Hi Lee, I realize you ultimately solved the problem otherwise, but you asked
below how to find out more about http sniffer/proxy tools. I'd like to point
out to folks here that I have a list of dozens of them, free and commercial,
for different browsers and operating systems, in a category of my CF411
site:

HTTP Debugging Proxies
http://www.cf411.com/#proxy

This is one of over 100 categories of over 700 tools and resources of
interest to CF developers, which I offer just to answer list questions like
this. :-)

Oh, and you asked "does it need to be installed on the server in which case
do CFMX permit that". Most of these install on your local machine, as Russ
clarified.

But I'll point out that there is indeed even one *built into CF*, so that
yes, it runs on the server. Many are unfamiliar with it, but it's called
TCPMonitor (used to be called Sniffer). It's actually a an Apache tool, but
bundled with CF (6, 7, 8). I point to more about it in the list, too.

Hope that helps someone, and keep the list in mind if ever anyone pops up
with a "what tools are available to do x?" kind of question. :-)

Finally, to folks who may wonder where I've been (haven't commented in
months), I just haven't been able to keep up on all the lists I used to. Had
some time to check in tonight.

Happy holidays to all.

/charlie

Hi Russ,

You talk about a http sniffer, this is something that would be very helpful
in diagnosing problems I sometimes have with external bodies sending content
to our appm8 application.

Is there one you can recommend, how does it work, does it need to be
installed on the server in which case do CFMX permit that?

Regards,

Lee
