The $499 price is alas just the developer version - only allows 10
connections max. You would need professional version for $4500 :

We're looking into using this as a backend for a new chatroom (currently
using Digichat at http://www.servicepals.com) - Communication Server
would allow an Instant Messenging solution that could work as a client
app, as well as within the site. It can also easily handle video and
voice chat.

So you members can chat in the chatroom, over an IM client application,
send instant messages via the site, and use video/voice as well as text
chat.

So is really rather funky. Very easy to implement too - the whole thing
has taken us around 10 days.

If you reckon the Instant Messaging side of the site will grow in the
future (or you'd like to offer that kind of functionality to your client
in future), you should seriously check out communication server as an
alternative to Jabber.

Cheers,

Ross

There are lots of jabber apps (it's open source) , including a COM
object /
java objects with which you can called serverside. However you'll need a
Jabber service (or at least a account), free for Linux , and a comerical
WinDoze based one. Jabber uses XML based protocol so you can do anything
you
like with it.

Still MX communication server looks pretty cool & value value ($500 ??)
