Hi All, We had our production server go down last week. The tape drive back-up locked up and froze the RAID 5 array. The only thing we could think to do was reboot, pop the tape out, and get the server back up. Only the server was not amenable to this. In NetRaid Express Tools, we found only three hard drives listed (cuz of parity?). Drive 1 was found, no faults, online. Drive 2 was found, offline, one media error, and drive 3 was found, offline, with 9 media errors. I am pretty sure the media errors were from the tape drive... We are running SQL 2000 Server, Win 2K Server, and CF 5. We lost Tuesday's data, and had to basically rebuild the drives and OS.
My round about question is this: In SQL 2000 Server, is there a way to go into transaction logs to be able to recover the data and images input to the server from a particular day? Or does just data get written to these logs? We are considering a mirror server, but are concerned about response time on the end-user side... Any suggestions(?) will be gratefully accepted.......
