Dates aren't stored in US format, or any locale specific format, they
are just stored as dates. Care has to be taken when accepting a date
from a form as input and ensuring that it is entered into a database
correctly. Search the list archives, I've ranted at length on this topic
too many times for my own good.   ;-)
