I now have my development server up & running (again)
Fresh install of Win2k server, Coldfusion MX, and SQL 2000 standard, using
IIS.

I am trying to connect via the SQL connection to the Northwind Database. I
confess that I know little about SQL 2000 but I can't believe this is so
difficult.
I have connected ok to existing MS Access databases, and can connect to the
Northwind database via ODBC socket connection by first creating an ODBC
entry in the ODBC control panel on the server. Surely everything is
therefore working ok ??? (but why do I need to do this and not use the SQL
connection)

I need to get this sorted so that I can justify/reccomend the move from
cf4.5/access to cfmx/sql2000 to the city council education dept.

I have the server setup for "multiple access methods" or something like
that, everything seems to test out OK

So,

Why can't I connect with the SQL connection to an SQL database? (the
default port 1433? is setup)
I have read in other forums that Macromedia have a major problem with this.
Is it true?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. (Its lucky I have lots of
long hair or i'd be bald by now ....)

Regards - Paul.
