In the end just used a counter in the cfloop that output the <li>s and
used 'onClick(#counter#)' instead of onClick('#someID#'). Then, in the
JS function, used a while loop check the next element in the form and
test to see if it's gone past the last child of the box that was
checked.

And in the process my JS has improved from abysmal to pretty appalling.
