I would agree with you, because having checked the pdfs in a text editor
they appear to be adobe 5. But they sometimes do manage to get indexed.

The server just seems to take up a ridiculous amount of memory when trying
to index them.

Just got the version info off the server:

CF:4.5.1, SP2
NT 4 SP6

Pretty much the same as one of my servers, that one seems to handle these
things okay.
