What a load of tosh! Give me a real operating system and a real web server and I would have had this done 5 minutes after the client asked me to sort this problem out, but no its on linux on apache, so its taken me all morning and I still haven't got it working!
So anyway enough of a rant on that particular issue. Can anyone tell me how I can get apache to allow access to one directory under a directory that is password protected by a .htaccess file.
I have a directory called "payments" under the root of a site at "/var/www/html/". The site is protected by a username and password until such time as the client releases it from testing, but they want to be able to direct users to a page under the payments directory from another site now.
What I have in httpd.conf is this : <Directory "/"> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride all </Directory>
<Directory "/var/www/html"> Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride all Allow from all Order Deny,Allow </Directory>
<Directory "/var/www/html/payment"> Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Allow from all Order Allow,Deny </Directory>
I have a .htaccess file in "/var/www/html" and none in the payments directory. The user name and password is working great, but I cannot work out how to stop it working on the payments directory.
Any thoughts anyone?
