we also get the following:

where *name of file* is the name of a file that actually DOES exist and runs
fine otherwise.
and also, strangely, this error had me scratching my head:

where *compiled classfile* is the name of a compiled CF template that
normally runs fine and isn't do anything more taxing than outputting a
query.
this is on cfmx updater 3.
