We had an issue with cf4.5 on nt4 with the Mac similiar to those symtoms. win2000 fixed it . If you are using cf4.5 on nt4 only...

It will only accept the localhost and one other IP as far as I recall. Check also that the web server is configured correctly. Mac's and certainly IE 5 can be dodgy but I doubt the mac is the problem in this case. Can you access the page from another PC? What is the URL, I can have a go from here.
