ColdFusion Powered Flash Professional
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash MX 2004 Professional has been announced, and this new Flash
will appeal to application developers seeking to build Flash
front ends to their applications. With forms type development,
integrated support for SOAP and Web Services, and data aware
components, Flash Professional is arguably the first Flash built
for the coders among us. In this session Macromedia's Ben
Forta will introduce Flash Professional development, and
demonstrate its use as a front end to ColdFusion MX applications.

When: Wednesday, 24 September 2003
Where: Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, UCL, Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT

NEW UKCFUG SITE LIVE!

After lots of false starts and months of hacking around with code, the
new UKCFUG site is live! We are still working on some of the features
but we wanted to get it out there so you could give us feedback whilst
we are still finalising the code.
There were a few things that we
decided would be a better change in the long run but would have a
small amount of pain up front. The big one being the changes to the
FuseTalk forums. They were a very hacked version 2 of the source and
when we looked at the amount of work required to migrate the content
to version 4, we decided it just was not worth it. So we installed a
clean set of forums and have not really needed to change the code at
all!
The other big change was the implementation of a true CMS
behind the site. We have used the Farcry content managment system to
build the core of the site and hopefully allowing us to get more
people adding more content to the site more often!
The last change
is that we have teamed up with the London MMUG to have a common
codebase between the two usergroups. There are a few great benifits to
this, mainly to do with reduced development time for any new features
(more developers to use!)
Anyway, that is enough of that, jump into
the forums and let us know what you think!
