go with Rich's 2nd suggestion then.  create a 2D array containing formfield
names, their initial values, and a boolean flag.  onSubmit check the inital
value with the current value, and set the flag appropriately.

I really want to build an array of what form fields have changed - the
ACTUAL ones, not just if one has changed...

Have u checked the qFORMS to see if that does it.

It's very simple to do anyway.
On your form fields just add an Onchange event handler abd set a flag if
the fields change.
