Subject: [ cf-dev ] Monitoring Web State
Guys..
we have a two servers in a cluster using ClusterCats for load balancing.
in the last week - the Westminster website on the second (slave) server
stopped for some reason (being looked in to by our server team) and this
also happened again today. IIS and CF were still running but just the main
external website was stopped and if anyone tried to go there they would see
a "this page can not be displayed" error
Client wants us to try and implement something to notify someone if this
happens again. ClusterCats is supposed to redirect people to other server if
this happens but apparently this didn't work
Anyone any ideas of how this can be done? (i think the server team are
looking in to something called Argent in long run)
I had a thought about trying to use Scheduled tasks in CF Admin to run every
half hour or something to try and go directly to the page on slave server
(i.e. specify www2.) and saving this to a file then have some other page
with code on it to inspect the contents of the saved page and looking for
the text "this page can not be displayed" then using a cfmail to notify me
BUT I am not really sure of the lower level detail of how i would do this,
if it is possible or whether there are any easier/more sensible methods to
do this?
Any help greatly appreciated
