I'm starting to build a chat room in Flash and have looked into the usual
suspects for the socket servers, Oregano, NFC Chat, Electro, Unity etc.

What I'm after is more specialised than what seems to be available, coupled
with the fact that I'd rather build it myself and have an understanding of
how it all works.

I'm trying to find out what it is that makes one java socket server more
robust than another. I have a simple threaded version that works nicely with
me and a few others in the room connected to it, but when it comes to 300
concurrent users what will I need to ensure that it doesn't die a death?

Any pointers would be nice, I've asked around in other places but I thought
there might be some knowledgeable people amongst you lot :O)
