Giles, personal firewalls are not meant for protecting servers and really wont do a very good job. The pro version of Zonealarm may do a better job than thwe free one tho. A software firewall on the same box as the server is never going to be a very good choice because your not actually blocking access to the machine. You need to have the firewall on a separate box. Your host may provide a shared firewall solution as we do for our customers, and you can put your server behind that.
The other issue with using software on the server itself, is that you can end up locking yourself out of the server. If your intent on going down the personal firewall route, other than zonealarm, the other most popular ones are Kerio personal firewall, blackice defender, wingate/winroute, Sygate Personal firewall.
