Nope...nobody else replied :)
The API is relatively expensive and should be your last resort. It really depends on what you want to do. If your client wants to offer a 'public' service then avoid the API as you won't be able to control the number of calls. Most if not all ebay tools scrape. It's a damm sight cheaper and isn't 'that' difficult.

seeing client next week so will have a better idea of what he wants to do although I am not certain he has a clear idea.
