That's a broad submit because an auction could be simple or it could be
ebay.
I did a bookshop once where members could auction off and sell their old
books, it was mainly a student bookstore, so was study books and what not.
They could aslo sell their 2nd hand books to the bookstore.
It was tied into that urbanthingy delivery system as well, so people could
drop their books off at one of the urban dropoff points to be collected or
could have deliveries made to these dropoff points as well.

The ablecommerce people do auction software if your looking to buy.
Also try www.easycfm.com I'm sur ethey have auction tutorials.
I am sure i have also seen some free or cheap auction systems and tags about
as well.
