Well, the missing space isn't critical for what I was doing (the CFC was
returning a value to some JS), so in this instance, don't need a
workaround, but thanks for the response anyway.

I was puzzled as to why CFMX was removing the space when the expected
behaviour would be that it shouldn't. For another user where each
character output is important (and not necessarily it's on-screen
representation), this issue may be of significance.
