I had to do that in the end years ago,  banged my head against CF and COM
for the better part of a week and in the end used VBScript with no problem
at all.

As much as I hate to admit it, Microsoft languages are much easier to
integrate with COM/DCOM

if I don't place ssl_connection in quotes then I get the following error;

Error building an argument list for .Execute

I'm starting to think of building a CF wrapper that calls vb script to get
the com objects to work,
as I'm up against a tight timescale,
