why does everyone seem to hate access so much? (apart from memory leaks mentioned in earlier thread this week)
it helped me learn loads and works great for a small dev project site I am working on for learning purposes?
There's nowt wrong with Access. Used correctly, you can actually get some bloody big applications running off it. I've got a mate who used to do proper software projects running off of Access with up to 750,000 rows in the db, 100+ users stuff like that.
If I remember correctly Raymond Camden's Death Clock website is still running exclusively off of Access and has been for years and gets silly amounts of traffic hitting it.
Just goes to show that with careful coding and queries and it possible to make a perfectly acceptable application using Access. You just need to be aware of the idiocyncracies of Access and make sure you cater for them, like compressing the database and making sure you have the drivers that don't leak...
These lot are just spoilt with SQL Server and Orible the non-standard where they don't have optimise their queries or code.... ;oD
