Hi Richard,
I used to use a lot of reference books with CF4 – CF5 but when MX came along, I found that new ideas, best practices and technologies were moving too fast to merit spending money on books. I now use the Macromedia online documentation http://livedocs.macromedia.com/ and Sean Corfields’ coding standards - http://livedocs.macromedia.com/wtg/public/coding_standards/index.html for all my reference. I sat the CFMX exam about a year ago, and got through it by simply reading the live docs. The only other resource I have used (for over 3 years now) is this excellent mailing list!
I have heard that the CFMX Developer Study Guide is well worth getting too.
Hope that helps,
Douglas

Guys
We are probably going to be migrating from 5 to MX in the near future and hopefully can update our (CF4!!) reference books.
I currently have CF4 web application construction kit (Forta), CFML Language ref and Optimizing CF5 (Cortes) sitting on my desk.
I was hoping for some recommendations from you guys about the texts that you rely on. Need to be for both reference purposes and possibly for self-teach purposes. Also be interested to hear what the guys who have studied for certification used as prep study book. All decent recommendations greatly appreciated.
(Also will we get a new CFML reference book as part of the upgrade?) _______________________________________________________ * Regards, Westminster City Council - Web Support (
