I remember, when I started, we had people from Allaire visiting us,
talking about CF, where it was going, what's new, now I don't see that
as much. And your right those comparisons with other products have
disappeared too. If we, as CF developers, are supposed to work more
closely with Java, as CFMX is built on J2EE (which I'm all for). Why
aren't Macromedia trying to use the status of Java in this country to
sell CF with. Java and CF work so well together, we should be trying to
get the Java community in the UK to see what CF can do and how it is an
important tool.

agreed. I think Allaire used to do a pretty good job of promoting CF,
as it was pretty much their main product. Now it's just one of the many
products that Macromedia offers, and is by no way the most important.
You used to see good comparisons between CF, ASP, PHP etc, which I
always thought did a good job of selling it to developers, but those
seem to have disappeared.
also they completely ballsed up the whole Tag Gallery, sorry,
"Coldfusion Exchange"

What do people think of the state of ColdFusion in the UK? I personally
think that it's a bit poorly supported and promoted by Macromedia. I
mean we have a very few user groups (which I am not knocking), but I
think Macromedia could do more to promote ColdFusion as a product to
both developers (by supporting further the User Groups) and to
organisations so that the market for CF is bigger in the UK.

Who's using CF in the UK, where is it going, do Macromedia have a plan
how to support and promote in the UK. It would be nice to know what they
are doing so we as developers could see how we could help.

What do other UK based developers think? How could we help better
promote CF in the UK?
