We had the same problem but with CF5 But it affected cfhttp.

Could only use with ips and not domains.
A restart fixed the problem. I think cf uses internal dns libraries to resolve and they don't get updated or get confused.
Why they use their own dns is beyond me when the ones available are fine.

Subject: [cf-dev] [ cf-dev ] CFMX mail problem - smtp server

Yesterday I became aware that 340 absolutely critical emails had been dumped by CFMX to the "undelvr" folder.  The mail logs had the notation that the "connection timed out".  After some discussion with our netadmin folk, it turns out the problem was that the IP addresses for the two SMTP relay machines had been changed.

CFMX did not pick up on this and simply continued to dump the outgoing emails as undelivered.  Restarting the service solved the problem.  What I'm wondering is, can anyone think of a programmatic method to check on this situation periodically so we can either force CFMX to reload network/DNS data or so we can notify ourselves that the IP addresses have changed?

It seems to me that CF should refresh itself periodically but I don't know if it does, or if there is a way to force it to, other than stopping and starting.

I'm sure this was an unusual circumstance, but if it happened once . . .

thanks
