Tried that, Justin, but MySQL didn't like it - can't use 
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]'@'dbserver'. So it wasn't that!

I think I'll go away and think about all this over the weekend. Perhaps I 
don't really need all this hassle, provided that the password for access 
to the MySQL data is obscure enough....
