A shopping cart is just a bunch of server-side session or client variables or possibly a client-side cookie. All of these are easily accessible by ColdFusion, so yes you can use it with a database. You will need to tailor it to meet your needs, but should be quicker than buying a solution if you've already built the catalogue.
