His concerns could be very valid. It depends on how your site is structured.
For instance, if your site uses a lot of URL query string stuff for navigation, that's not usually condusive to search engines. And you need pages that show product information by default, rather than something like a thumbnail page (with little textual info) that the user has to click to get product info. The SE won't be clicking on anything, so it doesn't see any of the product info. Some things that I have heard that SE's like (other than the obvious) are: + Well-written, descriptive sitemap pages + Product category pages (these can act as entry points) that have summaries (containing frequently searched-for words) of each product + static pages that contain search-engine friendly information that link to (not forward to) the current dynamic pages. You can actually rig up CF to make these pages for you every so often with the most current information. >I know I have asked a similar thing to this before but here it is again.... >The client that I have been developing a website for has a third party >'optimisin' the site for search engines. He has expressed concerns that >there are only 4 entry points to the site when really there should be >hundreds. He is claiming that he can't optimise the site as it uses >coldfusion. He says that all of the products should have an individual page >to be properly optimised. Now this sounds like total ball locks to me but I >bow down to those that might know... >Does any one have any comments on site optimistaion for search engines etc >.... >Regards - Paul > -- These lists are syncronised with the CFDeveloper forum at http://forum.cfdeveloper.co.uk/ Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/dev%40lists.cfdeveloper.co.uk/ CFDeveloper Sponsors and contributors:- *Hosting and support provided by CFMXhosting.co.uk* :: *ActivePDF provided by activepdf.com* *Forums provided by fusetalk.com* :: *ProWorkFlow provided by proworkflow.com* *Tutorials provided by helmguru.com* :: *Lists hosted by gradwell.com* To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
