Hi all, I have made a few updates to a copy of the database.lib.php file in Chamilo 1.8.8 dev, in order to use the MySQLi driver instead of MySQL.
This driver is famed for requiring much less MySQL resources, so I intend to test it on campus.chamilo.org for a while and then make it more (kind of) official. So far it's a very dirty hack but it seems to work. Anyone working on 1.8 and wanting to try: just backup your database.lib.php file and replace by the database.mysqli.lib.php.
