Hi Stijn,

It's actually quite simple. Take for example a wordwide announcement in several languages. If we want to do this now we need:

   * user groups per language
   * content objects per language
   * different publications per object and/or group

Context links are based on metadata. E.g. the dublin core language propery. By defining that metadata property of an announcement we "know" which language it was written in. This implies we can link different content objects based upon a certain context, which in this case would be the metadata property "language". If the publishing application supports it, you could then simply publish 1 object, which is automatically replaced by the most appropriate version for the user (in this case his or her configured or forced platform language).

It's an essential piece of functionality for a.o. the handbook and/or when you want to automaically use Chamilo 2 in e.g. different languages, for different institutions, etc.

Best regards,
Hans

Hi all (again :-))

After reviewing the repository we have quite a few questions... this one is not
that urgent though.

We don't quite know what all the "linking contexts" is about... you have the
metadata and the contextlinker, but all we can do is create a new contextlink, and end up
in some repoviewer creator component.
Then we get stuck, don't know what the hell we should do, nor what the impact
will be.

We would greatly appreciate it if somebody could explain what these things do.

Kind regards
