I was only able to reproduce this on one machine, but luckily I found the culprit. It is related to the following setting in ~/.config/vlc/vlcrc: # (default setting shown here) #show-intf=0 If show-intf is set to 1, then the bug occurs as described in my earlier post. The setting doesn't seem to do anything anyway, so I've just set it to the default and everything works fine. For me, I consider this solved. I've tried a newly generated compiz profile and the problem was still there. >Additionally, how much (pixels) does it jump? Is the amount of jump consistent every time? Yes, it is consistent. Exactly the size of the window decoration (left border, top decoration). The thing I've noticed is that the window appears at a different position when this option is set, but I don't know if that means anything.
