This sounds very much like a driver or configuration issue.
Benchmark has a setting "disable limiter", which is on by default. This setting
is designed to constantly refresh, thus creating a benchmark, and thus using as
much cpu as possible until a bottleneck is reached.
As for your wobbly problems, I'm not really sure I understand what you're
describing... Can you please try to explain the behavior in detail, not the
diagnosis?
