Hi,
I want to package because gnome3 is not yet fine for people with low
visual capability, and could work fine on XFCE or MATE desktop. Used on
MATE, it could give a fully accessible DE, with Orca + Compiz, for any
impaired visual problem. Then, of course, I hope it'll be maintained
again, and maybe I'll find people.

Compiz development is dead. I don't think it's worthwhile
packaging it for Debian anymore.
It is still maintained by Canonical and used on Ubuntu though.
What gives you this impression?

The fact that new features aren't being implemented anymore
doesn't mean Compiz is not useful.
It's useful alright, and I'm still using it, but it's obviously
bitrotten, not catching up to the latest GTK or Qt features, and
full of annoying little bugs that have no evident fix. Just getting
it to build is tricky.
The code seems in very sorry state to me. Why do you want to
package it?
I disagree. I don't have _any_ other issues with compiz except
flickering of KDE Plasma notifications. The build process doesn't have
any issues too: at least for me is nothing more than "cmake ../compiz;
make all;".
The reason for packaging is simple -- someone has to do it. The
project is still very useful.
Cheers,
Povilas
