Hi Amit,
yes, I could boot with 2.6.24-18.32 this kernel in the first place
( kernel web site:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/lpia/linux-source-2.6.24/2.6.24-18.32 ).

In image creator's chroot before the USB image creation, open target
terminal on Image Creator:
1. mv /lib/modules/2.6.24-18-lpia /lib/modules/2.6.24-18-lpia-temp
2. cd ubuntu-hardy
3. AUTOBUILD=1 NOEXTRAS=1 fakeroot debian/rules custom-binary-lpia
4. cd ..
5. dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-18.32-xxxxxx.deb
6. dpkg -i linux-headers-2.6.24-18.32-xxxxx.deb
7. download the linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24_2.6.24-18.26.tar.gz from
( https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/2.6.24-18.26
)
8. tar -zxvf linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24_2.6.24-18.26.tar.gz
9. cd linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24
10. AUTOBUILD=1 fakeroot debian/rules binary-debs
11. dpkg -i linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-18-lpia_2.6.24-18.26_lpia.deb
12. dpkg -i linux-headers-lum-2.6.24-18-lpia_2.6.24-18.26_lpia.deb
13. create a new image
14. write image to USB pen drive
15. Use USB pen drive to boot with vmlinuz-2.6.24-18-lpia

Why should I install the LUM ??
If I didn't install LUM, I always fail at the boot time.

Error message:
                 Mounting none on /root failed
                 Mounting /root/dev on /dev/.static/dev failed
                 Mounting /sys on /root/sys failed
                 Mounting /proc on /root/proc failed
                 ...
                 ...
                 Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init

                 Busybox x.x.x (Debian x:x.x.x) Built-in shell
                 (initramfs)

After install the LUM, the 2.6.24-18-lpia kernel could boot correctly.
Because someone tell me, my kernel didn't have squasfs and unionfs.
So it is why I have to install the LUM.

But it couldn't run at 2.6.26-1.1 and 2.6.27-3.3 kernel.
After install 2.6.27-3.3 kernel , even I could find the squashfs and unionfs in
/lib/modules/,
still fail at boot time ( always checking device /dev/hda ......etc) .

Thanks in Advance.
Rod

Hi Rod,

Are you able to boot with the 2.6.24 kernel in the first place?

Regards,
Amit
