Victor, The window manager (matchbox) forces all applications to fullscreen. This is by design to simplify user interaction on the small screen. I thought that the drop-down/drop-up was dependent on where the Edit control was placed on the screen and opened above or below based on spacing. I don't recall any specific settings in regard to that but there may be something in the gtk theme...? Just guessing about that as I'm not sure.
