Hi Anthony,
I used Totem on my Compal Jax10 under Ubuntu. After I installed Totem,
Nautilus, and the suitable codecs, I double-clicked on the media (e.g. MP3
and MP4) and things played fine. That might be an alternate approach?

I was impressed by the video quality, even when it was playing from an
attached USB thumbdrive.
