Well, I guess that you need is just add your entry on
/etc/network/interfaces (man interfaces). Something like:
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wireless-essid YOUR_ESSID
wireless-key YOUR_PASS
NOTES:
* I assume wlan0 is your interface, but could be ath0, wifi0 or so.
* If your pass is ASCII, then put 's:' just at the begining:
wireless-key 2F502D00A1 (for hex)
wireless-key s:mypassword (for passphrase or ASCII one)
See examples on: /usr/share/doc/wireless-tools/README.Debian from
'wireless-tools' package.

PS: BTW, this must be added on the '/etc/network/interfaces' file from
the sources. I mean, It must be written using the Terminal from MIC
or writting directly inside of the 'fs' directory of your target.
