And regarding the environment to build the modules you can either do it from
the Target machine (Menlow) which is booting with some default lpia kernel or
from the target shell of the target which you created on MIC.

Hi James,

Try setting the linuxdir path using the command: "export
LINUXDIR=<kernel_header_path>" and then type "make drm.o psb.o". Hope you have
the development package installed on the kernel from which you are trying to
build the drm and psb driver. If this also does not solve your issue can you
paste the error you are getting here?

Sorry I do not have an environment to build he binaries for you.

Hi guys,

I downloaded the psb git kit but I can't build it, probably because I don't
have the correct environment
Is there a correct way to prepare the environment, or can someone release the
modules so I don't have to go thru the trouble??

Thanks

Hi,

Erik was right, this is to do with not properly loaded Poulsbo driver. Git the
latest driver form http://moblin.org/repos/projects/psb-kmd.git and recompile
it with the command " make drm.o psb.o". Copy the resulting binaries drm.ko and
psb.ko to /lib/modules/<kernel_name>/kernel/drivers/char/drm and do a "depmod
-a <kenrel_name>". Reboot the system and the blinking issue should have gone.

P.S. To get all of the above (compilation etc) going on the same kernel (which
blinks upon boot-up), try -
1. Booting it in a single user mode (as Alan suggested in his previous mail)
and edit the file etc/X11/xorg-crownbeach.conf, search for the text "psb" and
replace the same with "vesa". Though the display won't be very good you still
would be able to boot the kernel and so all the GIT and compilation for psb and
drm drivers. Remember to change back vesa to psb in
etc/X11/xorg-crownbeach.conf before rebooting the system after compiling and
executing depmod.
2. Keep holding Alt+F1 key for 30 sec or so and the blinking may stop...

I had this same problem after I created my own version of the moblin kernel.
The problem was that X was trying to start and the Poulsbo driver was not
properly loading. X would then fail and restart, over and over again.

The solution for me was to recompile (or perhaps for you just find) the psb.ko
and corresponding drm.ko being used by X. If you look at the X logs somewhere
under /etc/ you might see the failure.

Subject: [Moblin Dev] LCD is blinking

Upon startup, when I get to the ume login screen my LCD display blinks about
once every second. The terminal does not accept keyboard input when the screen
is black.

It's kind of annoying when you're trying to enter a username and password to
type one letter every second in sync with the blinking. Is there a fix for this?
