Folks, we’re doing our first experiments with Kilo and got a bit puzzled with regards to combining Kilo with OpenContrail. AIUI, Neutron comes with an OpenContrail plugin in Kilo, but that plugin has significantly fewer functions than the one provided separately by Juniper (e.g. the whole IPAM part appears to be missing). Also, there now is a vif-driver built into Nova in contrast to the external one provided by Juniper.
What’s the ideal route to take? We tried to combine the vif-Driver from Nova in Kilo with the Contrail-Plugfin in Neutron provided by Juniper. That doesn’t work (VMs won’t spawn and complain that the proper vif_type is not set). We could use the built-in module but would likely lose functionality. We would also run the old Nova vif driver in Kilo’s nova, but that will need a few patches (I have identified a no- brainer and probably a few more that will need deeper investigation). We know Kilo+OpenContrail is not officially supported. But as you know by now, we like to live on the bleeding edge. So what is Juniper’s take on Kilo?
