Hello,

We are looking for a full L2/L3 vxlan solution using Contrail which will also
involve VXLAN routing.
In the Contrail code we found some references about IRB implementation in
device manager part.
We also found this demo video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cULuCvB-_b0
about MX80 capability to route vxlan packets coming from a Virtual Machine
managed under Contrail.
And we also found this link ->
http://blog.ipspace.net/2014/08/vxlan-encapsulation-in-juniper-contrail.html?showComment=1407784107152#c4995008879744190230
with a comment from a Juniper employee about the possibility of implementing
Vxlan routing in the future. The post is from 2014.

Please let us know if vxlan routing works between a Virtual Machine (in one
subnet) bound to a VRouter and Bare Metal Server (in a different subnet)
using a physical router (MX80) as VTEP.
I will also ask if vxlan routing can work between 2 remote VM's (in different
subnets and bound to different VRouters) - even if our understanding so far is
that this will definitely now work.

As far as we understood from Contrail code today VXLAN routing is not there
yet. If a host (VM) running on a VRouter needs to ping another host direct
connected to another VRouter and member in another subnet an mpls/gre or
mpls/udp tunnel is established not an vxlan.

Can you let us know please if community is currently working on this or if
there is a certain plan for the future to cover this.

  Thank you,

  Sorin.
