Hi all,
I have a question regarding the meaning of some fields when creating a
virtual DNS server. It would greatly help if you can provide an
explanation about their meaning and usage.
Unfortunately, they are not explained in the documentation:
https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/contrail3.2/topics/task/configuration/configure-dns-vnc.html
These fields are: Floating IP Record and External Visibility.
Floating IP record refers to how DNS records will be created for the
FIPs. If your vDNS is for acme.com, and floating ip is 1.2.3.4, and the
project is default-project, you get:
Dashed IP Tenant: 1-2-3-4.default-project.acme.com
Dashed IP: 1-2-3-4.acme.com
VM name: vm1.acme.com
VM Name Tenant: vm1.default-project.acme.com
External visibility means vDNS will reply to normal DNS queries from the
outside world. Internal DNS queries carry the tenant's domain in TXT
sections to choose a proper view in contrail-named; with this option,
the default view is essentially populated and served.
Also, I suppose that Reverse Resolution refers to the capability of the
DNS server to support reverse DNS lookups.
That's true.

Thanks,
Anda
