I use Ad Block Plus with the element hiding helper as a tool for blocking specific non-ad parts of pages, like huge banners in nice comics or animated things. (Or extensions making the computer's fan loud.) I'm not optimistic about redirecting domains somewhere else being a useful educational tool for this.
