Ah yes, I see there is a freedom issue (#83) related to one. Having
multiple package managers is a bad idea I think anyway (dependency
conflicts etc.), but sometimes is required to build. I guess it gives
the language specific developers an easier time when packaging, but,
really is laziness and like you said, and just annoys the distro packagers.
