It is forked from Coreboot.

It seems to mainly adds pledge() support when using OpenBSD, and most
of the work is a conversion to the BSD coding standards and various
code cleanups (many of which are subjective and/or relative to the BSD
coding standard, but some are not (like the rename of trame in frame)).
It also disabled "line buffering".

So it's probably best to use one of the upstreams (GRUB or Coreboot) and
contribute to it if needed.

Denis.
