I dont know what version you are running, I would suggest getting the
latest and greatest.
Sounds like there might be a quote or some kind of typo on that regex
line on line 974.
This is my line 974:
$output = preg_replace('/<roundcube:([-_a-z]+)\s+([^>]+)>/Uie',
"rcube_xml_command('\\1', '\\2')", $input);
you might try commenting out what you have in there, replacing it with
this one and seeing what happens.
