I'd just like to add that Sieve is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task
Force) Standards Track standard[1], which is likely to mean it is
supported by many e-mail platforms. There's also a draft standard for
remote management of Sieve scripts[2].
Plain Sieve (without extensions) is pretty basic, so it might be useful
to define the minimum requirements for an abstract "filter" class.
If you have questions about Sieve with regards to the above, I'll do my
best to answer them on- or off-list.
